Safety Training Certification Skill Set
Course information:

This skill set is offered by AMFA to people who are employed or seeking employment in the seafood or maritime industries to work on a near coastal commercial marine vessel, or on an International/offshore vessel.

Upon successful completion of this skill set you will receive a Statement for the AMSA approved Basic Safety and Security Awareness Training, listing individual International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping sections and a Statement of Attainment from the AMFA listing the units of competency. 

This skill set meets some of the industry requirements to obtain a Certificate of Safety Training.  For other regulatory requirements please visit the AMSA website to view the current AMSA Marine Order (MO70) http://www.amsa.gov.au.

The Skill set requires revalidation/reassessment every five (5) years, please refer to the CoST Continued Competence information page for further details.

Course location and dates:

Duration is nine (9) training days.


Classes are generally held between the hours of 8.30am– 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Full attendance is required.

Costs include all initial assessment fees, learner guides and practicals.  Participants will need to present in appropriate work wear, including footwear for fire practical and a change of clothing for pool practical.
