Certificate IV in Maritime Operations
(Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 Near Coastal)
This qualification is offered by AMFA to people who are employed or seeking employment in the seafood or maritime industries to operate machinery:
On vessels less than 1500kW propulsion power as a Chief Engineer in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ)
On vessels less than 3000kW propulsion power as Second Engineer in the EEZ
This qualification is part of the regulatory requirements to obtain a Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 NC Certificate of Competency (CoC). For other regulatory requirements relating to the Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 NC CoC, please visit the AMSA website to view the current AMSA Guidance Notice .
Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 Near Coastal) and a Statement of Attainment from the AMFA.
Course dates and location:
The duration is thirty (30) training days.

Classes are generally held between the hours of 8.30am– 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
Full attendance is required.
Some out of hours study will be required.
