Certificate IV in Maritime Operations
(Master up to 35 metres Near Coastal)

This qualification is offered by AMFA to people who are employed or seeking employment in the seafood or maritime industries to act on a commercial marine vessel:

  • Up to 35 metres in length within the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) as a Master and up to 80 metres in length as a Mate.

 

This qualification is part of the regulatory requirements to obtain a Master <35m NC Certificate of Competency (CoC).  For other regulatory requirements relating to the Master <35m NC CoC, please visit the AMSA website to view the current AMSA Guidance Notice http://www.amsa.gov.au.

Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a MAR40618 Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Master up to 35 metres Near Coastal) and a Statement of Attainment from AMFA.

Course dates and locations:

Course duration is thirty five (35) training days without the MARSS00008 Shipboard Safety Skill Set.

Classes are generally held between the hours of 8.30am– 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Full attendance is required. 

Some out of hours study will be required.

Costs include all initial assessment fees, learner guides and textbook.  Specialised navigation equipment would need to be purchased separately.  Participants will need to present in appropriate work wear, including footwear.
